Tracking and Moving Contracts Through Lifecycle Stages in MatterSuite

How to Track and Move a Contract Through Contract Lifecycle Stages

MatterSuite's Contract Lifecycle

The contract lifecycle feature lets you track a contract's progress starting from drafting all the way to execution.

How to Progress a Contract Through the Lifecycle

Contract Stages

Every contract moves through five stages:

  • Draft

  • Negotiating

  • Approval

  • Signing

  • Executed.

How to change your contract stage:

To move a contract forward, open the Change Contract Stage window, where the stages are displayed as a step-by-step tracker. Simply select the stage you want to move the contract to, and click Change Stage to confirm.

This visual tracker makes it easy to see exactly which stage the contract has completed, which one it's currently in, and what's still ahead, so anyone checking in on the contract can understand its progress at a glance.

Viewing Contracts by Stage

All Contract Stages

From the main Contracts list, you can filter contracts by their current stage using the tabs at the top: Draft, Negotiating, Approval, Signing, Executed, Void, Expired, or All. Selecting any tab instantly filters the table to show only contracts in that stage, along with key details like Title, Department, Contract Number, Value, Commencement Date, Expiry Date, Contract Owner, and Stage Status.

This makes it easy to quickly find, for example, all contracts currently sitting in Approval, or everything that's already been Executed, without having to search through the full list manually.

Stage Status

Alongside the Stage column, each contract also shows a Stage Status, such as No Phases, In Progress, or Not Started.

Viewing Void or Expired Contracts

The Void and Expired tabs display the key details: stages, Title, Department, Contract Number, Value, Commencement Date, Expiry Date, Contract Owner, Stage, and Stage Status.

This makes it easy to keep track of contracts that are no longer active, whether they were manually voided or have simply passed their expiry date.
